Movara Fitness Resort – Day 2 (The Work)

Here I am, sipping on my electrolyte drink, in my plush resort robe, waiting for my swedish massage that will take place in about an hour.  It was a tough day, and I am utterly spent.  But it was a fabulous day too.  It started out with a delicious breakfast, then a 45 minute stretch class.  I’m starting to live to stretch.  Once stretch class was done, we went hiking.  It took almost 2.5 hours, and was challenging in spots, but the views kept me going.

When we returned to the resort, we enjoyed a delicious lunch, then listened to a Life Coach talk about how we shouldn’t beat ourselves up.  So, rather than tell myself I’m afraid of losing my footing on my hikes, I’m going to tell myself that I’m learning to trust my feet.  Sounds corny, but she was right.  Negative self talk is a dangerous thing.

Now for the real work:  A 45-minute “Court Challenge” followed by a 45-minute Circuit Training class.  Court Challenge involved a cardio circuit of running, throw-downs, burpees, skipping, bikes, ropes, ladder runs, and punching bags.  It was exhausting, but only 15 minutes to rest before the next class.  The circuit training class involved 2 minutes on a cardio machine, then 2 minutes doing various weights.  back and forth, back and forth until the 45 minutes were up.

Our 3rd class of the day was a choice:  Stretch, or H2O (pool aerobics).  I chose to do another stretch class…it just feels so good to take care of my muscles.  After stretch it was dinner and a shower.

Note:  My phone was reading my heart rate via bluetooth from my chest HR monitor.  There were times when I was far from my phone (running outside etc), so I don’t know how accurate the calorie burn is.  It seems I worked way harder than that!

Splat Points.  This is an Orangetheory term (the app is from them).  You earn one “splat point” every time you spend a full minute at 85 – 91% of your maximum heart rate.  I earned a total of 22.

I am exhausted!  I just got a call from the front desk telling me my massage had to be moved to 8:30.  I’ll bet I fall asleep in the middle of it.
