When I feel strongly about a product, I’ll write about it. My latest exceptional find is the McKinley Merimbula Hiking Pants. These pants are so awesome, that after wearing them for a day I ran out and bought a second pair (even though they only come in one colour). These will be the first thing I pack for the West Highland Way.
The fabric is made of Dry-Climate moisture wicking material, so they’ll stay cool. They are also quick drying (handy when washing clothes along the way, or when you’re caught in some unexpected rain). They have a 4-way stretch which make them very comfortable for hiking and scrambling.
The pants come in 3 lengths even though the hem is adjustable with a draw cord. My legs are short, but I bought medium length, and with an adjustment they are perfect. Once cinched and tucked under, they retain a straight hem (not like a gathered sweat pant bottom).
They have 4 zipped pockets (2 side, one knee and one back), and a belt. I love that they have a higher waist (at the belly button) which makes the fit super comfortable (no gaping back waist).
I purchased mine for $89.99 at Sport Chek .
Not everyone will be as thrilled as me, because pants have a way of either fitting well or not. It really depends on your body type. But if you’re shopping for a great pair of hiking pants, you owe it to yourself to at least try a pair on.Share This:
